![]() |
Summary:
Nightcrawler greets his girlfriend, Amanda Sefton, at New York's Kennedy International Airport and notices villains Arcade & Miss Locke aboard their personal aircraft. Upon sneaking aboard, they learn that Amos Jardine is angry with Arcade for failing to kill Spider-Man, with Jardine assigning new villain Cutthroat to get the job done instead. Nightcrawler notes that Jardine once ran the circus he performed for before joining the X-Men. Jardine lures Spider-Man into a trap at his circus inside Madison Square Garden, where Nightcrawler and Spidey eventually defeat Cutthroat. Jardine's abduction of Amanda is foiled by an unexpected assist to the heroes from a vindictive Arcade.
Issue Notes:
First appearance of Cutthroat, who becomes an adversary of Captain America and the Avengers. He looks like an unmasked Doctor Doom in purple & green here.
This is Chris Claremont's final issue as regular writer of Marvel Team-Up although he'll return for the 100th issue at the end of the year.
